Femtosecond Mid‑Infrared Systems and Their Applications
Femtosecond mid‑infrared (MIR) systems are ultrafast laser sources with output wavelengths covering the 2–20 µm spectral range and pulse durations on the femtosecond (10⁻¹⁵ s) timescale. These systems are typically realized through nonlinear frequency conversion techniques such as optical parametric amplification (OPA) , difference‑frequency generation (DFG) , or optical parametric oscillation (OPO) , extending near‑infrared femtosecond lasers (e.g., 800 nm or 1030 nm) into the MIR region.
